One dead after shootout in City downtown

A thief was shot dead today by the police at Diagonal Sur and Perú, near Plaza de Mayo. According to Security Ministry sources, the incident happened while the police tried to prevent a type of bank robbery known as “salidera”.
According to these sources, an officer of the Federal Police approached a group of men who were suspected to be planning a robbery against a couple making a bank deposit.
On the approach of the officers the group fled the scene, and after a short pursuit one of the suspects opened fire against the police and tried to take a woman hostage. However, the individual was wounded by police fire and detained at Subway E Bolívar station.
The unnamed man died in an ambulance before reaching Argerich hospital.
