Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich has confirmed a first round of sanctions on retailers and companies that have failed to abide by the government-sponsored Precios Cuidados program will be launched this week.
In his daily brief to the press at the Casa Rosada presidential palace, Capitanich explained Domestic Trade Secretary Augusto Costa will be announcing the penalties and renewed the government’s position that Argentineans must cooperate in the control of prices, saying it is necessary that the population acts “rationally and efficiently” rejecting the rise of goods as a result of “speculation.”
Amid the Kirchnerite strategy to monitor chain values in order to stem inflation, the head of ministers also ratified “meetings with 38 productive groups” including horticultural and yerba mate producers for today to discuss the sectors’ informal job rates as well as price variations.
