Mujica: Not even God could keep Uruguay, Argentina apart

MujicaPresident of Uruguay José Mujica has once more referred to the strained relationship between his nation and Argentina, stating that it was imperative for the countries to mend the dispute.

Continuing Argentine protests over the ex-Botnia plant situated on the Uruguay River, as well as trade disagreements, have caused relations between the traditionally close allies to plummet in recent years.

But Mujica believes that a softening of attitudes is inevitable.

«As governments, at times we see eye to eye and sometimes we do not. But our duty is to make the effort to try and seek an agreement,» the head of state explained.

«At some point we will have to fix this and if we do not, governments change and the people remain. Not even God could keep us apart from the Argentine people, so we will always be together.»
