Chief of Cabinet Jorge Capitanich has assured that any negotiations held with the influential Paris Club will have to comply with what the politician dubbed Argentina’s «national interest and capacity to pay.»
Economy Minister Axel Kicillof is scheduled to meet today with members of the organisation, in order to reopen talks on respaying the Argentine debt, estimated to be worth around 9.5 bn dollars.
But according to Capitanich, who spoke this morning from Government House, any talks would have as a «basic condition» those two prerequisites.
«Every negotiation process requires the assent of all parties and that implies further data that minister Kicillof will presently provide,» he explained to gathered journalists in the morning press briefing.
«After the default declared in 2001 Argentina began a process of renegotiating public debt and this has led to a saving of 81bn dollars,» the Cabinet Chief added.
