Alejandro Marambio, in charge of the Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF) presented his resignation from office arguing “personal reasons”. He will be replaced by Emiliano Blanco, his Chief Advisor.
Marambio’s resignation must be ratified by President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who according to official sources, is going to accept on Wednesday.
“His resignation is due to personal reasons, family matters. His family lives in Spain, and he’s tired of travelling there all the time”, officials stated.
Marambio leaves with a record of 130 jailbreaks since he took office in 2013, while his replacement will start this year with at least 13.
“The Minister of Justice, Julio Alak already knows him, he was Marambio’s first adviser when he returned to office”, sources assured.
Alejandro Marambio was appointed as the new chief of Argentina’s Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF) in August 2013, after Víctor Hortel’s resignation in hours following a jailbreak at Ezeiza prison.
