Following the agreement reached between the government, supermarket and retailers and that becomes effective today, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said prices that have been agreed on will guarantee the «supply» of products involving as well a «7-percent-reduction in prices.»
According to the head of ministers, the almost 20-product list will serve as “reference” for other prices so that they can be “extended to other supermarket chains and the rest of the national territory in January.”
In his everyday press conference at the government house, Jorge Capitanich also addressed Argentina’s export challenges for the year with a government plan that aims at taking local sales to 94 million dollars in 2014 and 101 million dollars in 2015.
In that sense, the cabinet chief pointed out that in 2003 Argentine exports reached only six counties accounting for 1 billion dollars, while now there are 16 countries the South American nation trades with breaking figures from a decade ago.
“Argentina has a large potentiality to substitute imports, sharpen its process of reindustrialization and strengthen its traditional and non-traditional exports,” the minister assured.
