The Economy Ministry has been working on the creation of a new price index following claims and a censorship move by the International Monetary Fund over Argentina’s inflation statistics. The IMF will be addressing next Wednesday progress made on such a sensitive matter by the South American country, which was summoned to adjust both its price and GDP data to “international standards.”
IMF communications chief Gerry Rice was in charge of announcing the official date when the credit organism will “revise” Argentina’s statistics following IMF’s own procedures.
Outcomes and findings will be then referred to the IMF board but Rice did not confirm any further official date about when the board will be meeting to address Argentina’s statistics case.
Only after that meeting, it will be informed whether the International Monetary Fund withdraws the motion of censorship against the country.
