The government has asked grain companies to sell their dollars from export profits in the domestic market to push the exchange rate down.
Today, the official dollar rate was trading at 5.95 pesos for buyers at banks and exchange officies in the City, marking the largest drop in two years.
Meanwhile, greenbacks trading in the informal market closed at 9.83 pesos yesterday following October’s high jumps when the American currency hit –and crossed the barrier of- 10 pesos.
