Lanzini, twice, and Simeone score in 3-0 win over Tigre
Manuel Lanzini scored twice and Giovanni Simeone added another as River Plate defeated Tigre 3-0 at home to cut a run of three games without victories and win its second match in the Initial Tournament.
River Plate returned to victory in the Initial Tournament yesterday when they beat Tigre 3-0 at the Monumental stadium in a match for the sixth round of the championship.
With this result, Ramón Díaz’s side accumulated seven points and cut a run of three games without victories. It was its second win in the league.
In other matches yesterday, San Lorenzo defeated Rosario Central 2-0 and Arsenal de Sarandí beat Quilmes 1-0.
At the Monumental, Manuel Lanzini scored a fantastic goal in the 46th minute to put the host ahead. He left the opposition defenders behind with his speed and beat goalkeeper Javier García to send the ball home.
Giovanni Simeone, son of Atlético Madrid’s coach Diego, netted his first goal in the First Division in the 62nd to double the difference.
Two minutes later, Lanzini sealed the victory for when Tigre was trying to pull one back.
River was without new signings Teófilo Gutiérrez and Jonathan Fabbro, both called by the Colombian and Paraguayan national teams, respectively, but won the match thanks to the pace and acceleration from its youngsters.
After a poor start in the tournament, River, which qualified for the third round of the South American Cup on Thursday after eliminating San Lorenzo, earned a deserved victory to get closer to leader Argentinos Juniors, which has 13 points.

Uruguayan Martín Cauteruccio put San Lorenzo ahead in the 26th minute and Héctor Villalba sealed the victory in the 85th.
After Villalba’s goal, referee Germán Delfino sent Central’s coach Miguel Ángel Russo off for disproportionate protests.
Arsenal is another of the tournament surprises as it defeated Quilmes with a goals netted by Martín Rolle to put itself in the fight for the title.
