Ex Transport Secretary Ricardo Jaime has been sentenced to a 6-month conditional discharge found guilty of stealing documents that were set to served as evidence in an embezzlement investigation. He will not served time in prison.
Jaime’s attorney Marcelo Brito considered the court’s ruling “political.” “There is a big slowdown among judicial sectors. We should ask judges what interests do they have to openly move aside from law,” Brito said as he explained the plaintiff could not prove the evidence against the former Kirchnerite official.
The felony imputed on Ricardo Jaime took place in 2010 when the ex head of the transport office allegedly hided business cards that presented him as the chief of a company during a police raid at his home. Jaime returned the documents but the evidence never made it to Buenos Aires where he was facing trial.
This is the first sentence against Ricardo Jaime who faces several other lawsuits involving an investigation over his responsibility in the 2012 Once train tragedy that claimed the lives 51 people and left hundreds injured.
