BA City Mayor Mauricio Macri took his criticism of the Kirchnerite administration to the Council of Americas’ table saying that “governments must understand the role they play”. Business leader Eduardo Eurnekian praised the rapprochement with the federal government following the first round of dialogue meetings officially kicked off by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner yesterday.
At the traditional gathering of the Council of Americas currently taking place in the Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires City, Mauricio Macri urged businessmen to “express” their thoughts about Argentina’s economic path.” “We need businessmen committed with the public sector and willing to give their opinion about the path of the country,” the head of the PRO party affirmed and added that “governments must acknowledge that their role is to fuel investments’ process that leads to the country’s development.”
In a different tone and following Wednesday’s reunion with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in Southern province of Santa Cruz, Argentine Trade Chamber vice president Eduardo Eurnekian considered that “institutions work because there are open to dialogue and consensus.”
“Only yesterday we maintained productive and interesting meetings with the national government, business leaders and workers, showing that institutions do work,” Eurnekián said.
In his Council of the Americas address, the business tycoon analyzed the international scenario still dragged down by the global crisis. “Despite fluctuations of the international context, long-term perspectives are encouraging,” Eurnekian assured affirming the world yet offers a “window of opportunities” for Argentina as he called to “face the challenges of globalization and technological progress” with education as a «mainstay» for success.
