Security secretary Sergio Berni has asserted that «it was shameful to hide information» surrounding the robbery suffered by Tigre mayor Sergio Massa, and also claimed that an operation was in place as he revealed «the links between the victim and the perpetrator.»
The national government minister gave a press conference on Tuesday evening, after provincial counterpart Ricardo Casal also spoke out on the case. Berni held that «although the robber formed part of the security forces [Alcides Díaz Gorgonio, a prefect in the Border Patrol], the only difference between Sergio Massa and I is that I did not know him.»
The secretary’s comments follow earlier statements made on Tuesday, in which he implied that there had been connivance on Massa’s part to keep events under wraps.
“We are talking about something that happened 15 days ago, which has been concealed and was never notified to the Public Federal Ministry,” Berni warned in statements to Radio 10 station and C5N TV network.
“No one knows who carried out the police raid,” Berni said and added: “It seems as if there were two Judiciaries: one for the powerful, and another never seen by the ordinary citizen.”
