Pope Francis has landed in Sao Paulo today and was visiting the Virgin of Aparecida shrine where he will hold a mass this morning.
Despite the cold and the rain, thousands of Catholics gathered outside the basilica to have at least a glimpse of the Argentine pontiff.
Francis will later meet with local bishops and seminarians. Around 5,000 security officials were deployed in the city for the Pope’s visit.
