The Senate’s appointment committee began discussing today General César Milani’s credentials for his appointment as head of the Army amid strong criticism from opposition leaders who claim Milani had a key role in Argentina’s last military dictatorship.
The head of the Victory Front’s caucus in Congress Miguel Pichetto stressed during the debate that «there are no real elements to think that Cesar Milani was involved in human rights violations.»
Lawmakers are set to review the appointments of General Luis María Carena; Rear-admiral Gastón Erice; and Brigadier Mario Callego.
