President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner “congratulated” her Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos for the “peace process” his government is spearheading along with the FARC forces, which he said “represents good news all over South America.”
“I want to congratulate you for your bravery to spearhead the peace process in this country that still suffers a grave conflict. Only the stubborn, those who do not love their country, can apply barriers or be against Colombia being one Colombia for all Colombians,” she said.
She also said that “it’s always easier to fire weapons than seating down and negotiate with those you’ve been opposed to and reach agreements.”
“The peace process in Colombia is necessary for the region,” she said, for which she expressed the “support of the Argentine people.”
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner arrived today’s early morning in Colombia’s capital city where both leaders are expected to address the current course of the bilateral relation.
Joined by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, Industry Minister Débora Giorgi and Public Communication Secretary Alfredo Scoccimarro, the Argentine head of state was officially received by Santos at the Hall of Arms of the government house.
