Milani spontaneously shows up in court, denies involvement in human rights abuses

MilaniNewly appointed Army Chief César Milani arrived spontaneously at a court in La Rioja and denied all recent accusations involving him in alleged crimes against humanity during Argentina’s civil-military dictatorship.

According to La Rioja’s media, Milani arrived earlier in the morning today to the provincial court carefully watched over by security agents and headed then to the office of Federal Judge Daniel Herrera Piedrabuena.

“Surroundings of the court are being guarded by Army officers who will protect the security of the military (leader),” a local radio station informed.

Meanwhile, an Army’s press statement that was delivered to media explains General César Milani has denied “being involved in the events he has been accused of” and that took place during the country’s brutal 1976-1983 bloody regime.
