President Cristina de Kirchner has assured that the Argentine government, «like no other in the region, will continue to subsidise energy and transport, because we cannot deny that this has contributed to competition in the nation.»
The head of state spoke in Ramallo, where she led the inauguration of new machinery at the Ternium Sidebar industrial plant.
Accompanied by Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scioli, Kirchner also took the opportunity to thank wellwishers for their «displays of affection and love» as she celebrated the birth of her first grandchild.
«I am old now, a grandmother,» the president joked, referring to the recent birth of Néstor Iván, son of Máximo Kirchner and Rocío García.
«Today is a great day personally and it is a great day institutionally. I want to say thankyou for all the displays of affection and love for my first grandchild, it is a time of great happiness,» she explained.
