The Domestic Trade Office run by Guillermo Moreno has closed down three supermarkets located in Buenos Aires province and one in Buenos Aires City. Deadlock ends at 1 pm today with the government accusing food traders of failing to abide by price freeze controls.
Supermarkets targeted by Moreno in Buenos Aires province are Wall Mart in the locality of Avellaneda, Jumbo of Tapiales, Tigre’s Carrefour and Coto in BA City.
According to an official statement, the move follows the «shortage of some of the 500 products» that supermarkets «committed» to sell at frozen prices, facing now sanctions as established by the 20680 Supply Law.
On June 3, the Guillermo Moreno’s second-in-command María Lucila “Pimpi” Colombo confirmed she had received around 50 reports proving the breach of the price agreement that set a 500-list product to tackle inflation.
