Echegaray deems Supreme Court request for AFIP meeting ‘inappropriate’

1The head of AFIP tax bureau, Ricardo Echegaray said that “it is improper for the Supreme Court as an institution to push for an audience with us in order to discuss matters strictly related to a taxpayer and his family.”

Echegaray addressed concerns raised by journalists regarding a recent request by the Supreme Court to meet with AFIP authorities in order to discuss accusations that AFIP officials had been investigating Chief Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti.

“It’s not appropriate,” he said regarding the request. “We are dealing with matters that the law allows the AFIP to engage in as the organization heading tax policies.”

“All taxpayers are allowed to address the agency’s control areas,” he explained, adding that so far, “he had not received any request for a meeting with the Supreme Court, even though he had already learned about it from the media.”
