UBA students take over Social Sciences building

ubaSocial Sciences Faculty of the Buenos Aires University woke up today with students taking over the building to demand infrastructure improvements and protest non-payment of scholarships.

Leader of the Buenos Aires University Federation (FUBA in Spanish) Martha Linares said teachers are being allowed to access the building so that classes can be guaranteed. However, demonstrators decided to block the entrance to authorities.

The Social Sciences building -located at 2200 Marcelo T. de Alvear Street in Buenos Aires city-, has been transferred to the neighborhood of Constitución; but students denounce the works have not yet been finished.

FUBA will be rallying later today at the headquarters of the Education Minister where students will be delivering a report to officials demanding also the fulfillment of the University Scholarships National Plan (PNBU).
