Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scioli and National Social Development Minister Alicia Kirchner today visited one of the several donation centres in La Plata. After facing criticism from some of the people present, the minister said she «understood anger, but not violence.»
Scioli visited the General San Martín Children’s Club joined by provincial officials such as Cabinet Chief Alberto Pérez while national Security Secretary Sergio Berni walked through the centre with Alicia Kirchner.
A crowd surrounded the place, some people protesting their presence, some of them supporting the efforts to assist the victims.
In a news conference, Alicia Kirchner stressed that the government is «working intensely» and «I’ll keep on working along with the provincial government and ministries.» «I understand anger but I don’t understand violence,» she added.
Argentina’s Red Cross set the donation centre campaign yesterday’s afternoon where volunteers collect clothes, mattresses, water, powdered milk and non-perishable food that will be distributed mostly among the neighbors of Tolosa, one of La Plata’s most affected areas by the torrential downpour.
