In an improvised press conference at the BA province government house, Daniel Scioli confirmed La Plata’s tragedy death toll has climbed to 46 and said that deaths’ figures might increase in the upcoming hours.
Scioli said “humanitarian aid” has been the top priority of provincial authorities who are working together with the national administration of President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
In fact, Scioli thanked CFK’s «espontaneous» visit to the province. Both leaders held a 40-minute meeting this afternoon after CFK visited the most affected areas in the province of Buenos Aires such as the neighborhoods of Tolosa and Los Hornos.
As he told reporters earlier this morning, the Governor said the heavy storm «unexpectedly» hit families, hindering also efforts to identify the number of people who lost their lives.
Daniel Scioli explained that a special operation headed by Security Minister Ricardo Casal will be launched tonight with 400 police officers in the streets to secure the city and announced subsidies and loans to help thousands who have lost almost everything overnight.
