The president of the Argentine Rural Society (SRA), Luis Etchevehere, claimed today not to expect dollars from the rural sector in the short course, because «there’s no soy to liquidate.»
In contradiction with what the Government denounced – assuring that the producers are stocking the soy awaiting better prices-, the ruralist affirmed that there are no surplus of the harvest to generate an income.
«There’s no old soybeans left. We were expecting 50 million tons last year, but due to weather conditions, we’ve harvested 40. By the end of the year, there were half a million in corporate hands. The new one is not ready yet,» he continued.
The ruralist responded to the official voices that stated that the tension in the exchange market could be eased by putting pressure on the exporters to liquidate their crops’ surplus.
Etchevehere stated that this year the producers will speculate with the date in which they will sell the harvest due to the need of better prices. Because of the export duties, they only recieve a dollar exchange rate near the $3.20 pesos.
