BA Province Governor Daniel Scioli greets President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner
BA province governor Daniel Scioli described the meeting between President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Pope Francis as “a very important proof of unity, maturity and respect” that allows to “put things into place” and considered criticism of Bergoglio “nonsense.”
“Encouraging” was the word Scioli chose to resume the official gathering but also to respond to the position of certain kirchnerite officials that have long questioned his political loyalty to the national government.
“I inaugurate a garbage facility with (BA City Mayor) Mauricio Macri and it looks like if I am a traitor; when a national minister goes and inaugurates the subway with Macri, that is ok, those are state policies,” the governor pointed out as he recalled the opening ceremony of the Subte A services that Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo attended to. “I will not fall for that again,” he warned.
In a similar direction, he referred to a meeting he held with former Vice President Julio Cobos back in December and affirmed he talks with everybody “within the margins of democracy.” “If tomorrow I meet with a ravine it does not mean I will change my religion,” the provincial governor told TV reporters.
Daniel Scioli exlplained that he discussed both with Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández the fact that some groups sought to show him “distant” from the central administration and that Kirchner said he should “disregard” such comments.
“I don’t let myself be swayed by a picture. What matters to me, at the moment of truth, is that you answer to me. You answer to me and you have always accompanied myself,” Scioli said CFK once told him and went to consider that such political statements by some Victory Front representatives “do not help” the President.
