Teachers in the Buenos Aires province threatened to go on strike for a full week next Monday if the provincial government does not present them with a better proposal in the wages negotiation.
“We are warning that if the provincial government doesn’t change their offer, the entire educational system of the Buenos Aires province will be paralyzed next week,” SUTEBA teachers’ union leader Roberto Baradel said.
Teachers’ unions began this week the second 48-hour strike in the 2013 school year.
Last week, as the school year began, teachers carried out a similar measure in protest of what they consider to be a poor salary increase.
The BA province offered a 17.8 percent hike, while teachers are calling for a 30 percent.
