Chaco Governor Jorge Capitanich.
Chaco Governor Jorge Capitanich harshly criticized the Supreme Court, as he assured that “it hasn’t acted independently” in the Media Law case.
“The court is indebted with the Argentine society,” he said.
“In this case, the Supreme Court was permeable to corporate pressure. It is a real shame that after four years a law that has been voted by Congress still cannot be applied effectively,” Capitanich stated.
He then added that “in this case, the Court hasn’t acted independently.”
The Governor later expressed his support for the judicial reform bills suggested by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner during her opening speech of the legislative session last week.
“This is a very important item in the agenda. The Judicial Branch is part of the Government that must show stability but also transparency so it is not permeable to any pressure applied by corporate groups,” he concluded.
