The Head of the National Audit Office (AGN in Spanish) Leandro Despouy has echoed recent statements by former Transport Secretary Juan Pablo Schiavi and considered them «provocative».
Schiavi –who is indicted in the Once Train Tragedy case-, had said that “all State mechanisms worked” in the Sarmiento train case.
“When (Schiavi) responded to our auditing reports he said that trains did not fail to function but that Argentinians destroyed them”, the AGN official told a local radio station and added that the auditing reporst forboded what finally turned into the Once fatal accident.
“Reports are categoric, disastrous service conditions that would lead to tragedy if measures were not taken”, Despouy affirmed.
