Survivors and relatives of the victims of the Once tragedy remembered their loves on the 11th month anniversary of the railroad accident that left 51 people left and hundreds of passengers injured. They also said the National Government’s “silence” is shameful.
Family members held a ceremony at the Once railway station at the exact time that the accident took place eleven months ago, called for the survivors to be assisted and that those responsible are held accountable and put in prison.
They also criticized the new restoration works of the Sarmiento line started by the National Government and assured that “they are only aesthetical and are being conducted by one of the Cirigliano family’s companies,” which were in charge of the train maintenance when the tragedy took place.
Luján Rey, mother of fatal victim Lucas Menghini Rey, blasted the National Government: “They are always talking about the Republic’s branches. Help the 851 victims of your former corrupted officials at once.”
“Their silence is shameful,” she added. “Why does the Executive branch remain silent, without accepting the blame? Why do they announce restoration works but don’t mention they were sparked by the loss of innocent life? It was an avoidable tragedy at the heart of the Government and in every announcement they mention those who died without doing it. People know the truth,” she stated.
