Numerous Buenos Aires City neighborhoods awoke this morning with containers full of waste and piles of garbage bags on street corners, as a result of a protest set by members of the Truckers’ union (OSCHOCA), who blocked all plants as they claim for a better union’s health insurance service to a hospitalized collector colleague, sources of EASA and Cliba explained.
Collectors indicated a colleague diagnosed with meningitis, who is currently hospitalized at the San Justo Hospital in Greater Buenos Aires district of La Matanza, is in a highly delicate condition as a result of receiving a wrong medical treatment.
«The conflict has nothing to do with the company. It started last night when a group of truck drivers blocked the CLIBA and AESA waste collecting plants located in Palermo thus impeding the night service,» an AESA spokesman explained.
The most affected neighborhoods are Barracas, La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta, Colegiales, Palermo, Belgrano, and Núñez.
Likewise, the AESA representative said that «Apparently the protest is caused by the poor delivery of health insurance services provided to one of its affiliates.»
At noon collectors indicated that they reached an agreement with the truckers’ union health insurance and that the collecting service will be resumed by 4pm.
