Leftist organizations create traffic chaos in downtown BA

Over 200 militants from leftist organizations blocked 9 de Julio Av. and set several tires on fire on the 11th anniversary of the downfall of the De la Rúa administration.

The protestors from the Quebracho organization, most of them with their faces covered and brandishing sticks, interrupted traffic on the downtown avenue and burned dozens of tires.

Police officials observed from the sides without intervening and tried to control the traffic chaos, that spreaded across the main avenues of the city.

On December 20th, 2001, then President Fernando De la Rúa tendered his resignation amidst grave demonstrations that left over 30 people dead all over the country in what is considered the worst economic crisis this country ever faced.
