Solution to AGTSyP conflict ‘far’, subway strikes to go ahead

Secretary-general for breakaway subway workers union AGTSyP, Robert Pianelli said today that “conversations with Metrovías were in place” in order to find a solution to the conflict over wages, tomorrow’s strike action; however they were far from reaching a solution.

Pianelli spoke to a local news channel today and said that they would only lift the strike as long as the ten days that they were on strike for during the month of August were not discounted from their pay packets, and that a “charity payment” of 1% of their wages wasn’t given to the official subway workers union UTA.

“We hope the conflict can be resolved. We spoke on the phone, but up to now nothing’s been sorted,” Pianelli said today.

As long as the rotating strikes are to go ahead, tomorrow all subway lines will be affected for three hour periods, as different times of the day.

The B line will be out of service from 5 to 8 am, C line from 8 to 11 am, D line from 11 am to 2 pm, the E line and the Premetro line from 2 pm to 5pm, the H line from 5 pm to 8 pm and the A line from 8 pm to 11 pm.

On Monday, the union carried out rotating strikes across all subway lines, and where most were supposed to last bouts of three hours, they ended up holding up the underground train service for most of the day.
