The head of the Federal Authority of Audiovisual Communication Services (AFSCA) Martín Sabbatella said today that the government could intervene in audiovisual media companies who exceed the amount of licenses that fall in line with the Media Law, as of December 7.
During a press conference held inside the Manzana de las Luces downtown, Sabbatella explained that when the Media Law comes into effect, audiovisual media groups must present an “adaptation plan,” in the case that their amount of licenses exceeds the number set by the law.
If the adaptation plan is not presented, the licenses will be presented to other companies.
The AFSCA official stated that in those cases, “the bidding will be made on that of least value, leaving that of most value, in order to cause the least amount of economic damage” possible and in order to “protect jobs.”
