Sarmiento rail strike lifted

Railway workers lifted the strike they were carrying out which had caused a complete suspension of the Sarmiento train service between Once and Moreno stations.

Earlier today a 2-hour disruption of the Mitre line service to Tigre took place during the busiest commuting hours into the capital city.

The workers are demanding their October salaries be deposited, although the government already denied the payments had not been made.

Today’s disruption to the Mitre line between Tigre and Retiro stations lasted from 8 am to 10 am, when workers told the press that they had resumed services on the line.

Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo referred to the strike measures as “completely irresponsible.”

“The State is not behind with the wage payments. The final date for submitting the payment is on November 8 and today is a national bank holiday.

“Taking strike action today is an absolute disgrace,” Randazzo said today in a radio interview.

Railway Union delegate Rubén Sobrero, said that the strike action began at midnight and will be kept in place “until all of the due wage payments are deposited.”
