A group of 150 Border Guard officers marched to Plaza de Mayo square to demand the Security Ministry to answer to their petition presented by the forces’ authorities last week.
The officers announced that they will continue with the protest they have been holding for the last week at the Centinela building, despite Cabinet Chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina’s announcement over the impossibilty of applying an 7 thousand pesos minimum wage.
Gendarmerie’s spokesmen stated that they will remain in front of the Centinela building «until we receive an official reply.»
Meanwhile, the officers anticipated that they «won’t take the guards» from anywhere.
Earlier, spokesman Raúl Maza assured that «they laughed in our faces» and added «we are not leaving.»
The protest began last Tuesday, after the announcement of a decree that slashes the sector’s salaries.
After the Government admitted they had committed a mistake and was going to deposit the rest of the salaries left, the officers doubled they claims and demanded a $7,000 pesos minimum salary.
