President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner warned today that the international economic crisis «will not be solved in the short or mid term” and criticized the measures applied by developed countries to leave the crisis behind.
The Head of State made these comments as she addressed her counterparts during the third ASPA South American Arab countries summit in Lima, Peru. She also called for the end of the last traces of colonialism in the region and requested that the UN and its decolonization committee resolutions are respected.
She also called for Palestine to be recognized as a state and for it to be included in the United Nations.
After adressing fellow attendees, the President held a bilateral meeting with Jordan King Abdullah Bin-Al Hussein. Later, she took ´part of a lunch hosted by Peru president Ollanta Humala and then began the journey back to Buenos Aires.
The first activity of the summit saw Peruvian president Ollanta Humala giving an official welcome to all of the presidents that arrived to participate in the bilateral meeting.
The South American countries that make up the ASPA are: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Meanwhile, the member countries of the Arab League are Bahrain, Algeria, Comoros, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and Djibouti.
