Gale-force winds hit Buenos Aires City today while water levels along Río de la Plata coastline was being monitored. In the province area of Quilmes, the river burst its banks flooding roads by the coast.
Forecasters issued an alert early this morning for strong winds and rain.
“An increase in south-easterly winds between 60 and 90 kilometres per hour are expected,” forecasting service SMN said.
Social Development Minister for Buenos Aires province Martín Ferré was monitoring the situation, particularly along the northern and southern coastline.
“Due to the climate conditions affecting the region, we are carrying out protocol and monitoring the levels of the river,” Ferré said.
SMN stated that the wind speed was expected to lower by the afternoon or evening on Wednesday.
