The Catholic Church will take part of a public hearing led by the bicammeral committee for the reform of the Civil and Penal Codes, which will be held at the Congress, to voice its “concern” over certain modifications.
Monsignor José María Arancedo, chairman of the national Episcopate, registered as a participant in the public hearing which will be held at the Blue Hall of the Senate.
“We see that the rights of adults are over the rights of children in the reform,” senior press officer the Episcopate, Jorge Oesterheld told reporters on Wednesday.
The priest also voiced the concern of several bishops over certain issues of the reform, particularly those regarding the safeguarding of families and lives to come, as well as those of children.
The Catholic Church had already publically expressed concerned over the Civil Code reform, stressing the fact that “there’s no urgency in such important topic, especially when they jeopardize the legal structure of society.”
