Senate approves Gils Carbó’s designation as prosecutor-general

The Senate approved Alejandra Gils Carbó’s appointment as prosecutor-general in today’s debate, with 63 votes in favour and 3 against.

The debate began shortly before 4 pm.

Other topics discussed in today’s session included the authorization of leave for army troops and a draft bill to widen the amount of members allowed in the committees of the Senate.

On August 7, Gils Carbó attended a public hearing where she was questioned by senators on different factors affecting the role, particularly regarding her take on somewhat hot topics for the Kirchnerites. The UCR (Radical Party) stated they would vote in favour of her being appointment, as well as other senators from Federal Peronism.
