The accident occurred early this morning along National Route 3.
At least nine border guards and three civilians were killed and more than 40 injured this morning after a two coaches collided head-on with a lorry, some 64 kilometres away from Puerto Madryn in Chubut province.
The crash took place along the northern route into Chubut, National Route 3, early this morning.
The buses carrying border guards, had left Comodoro Rivadavia at midnight on Monday and were on route to Buenos Aires and Rosario before being involved in the accident.
The border guards had been working on a security operation in order to lift seizure of the Cerro Dragón oilfield, after workers were carrying out violent measures in order to demand a pay rise.
The lorry carrying cereals bundles, was on its way south.
Due to the impact of the crash, the driver of the lorry was killed instantly and at least eleven border guards from the coaches were killed.
Injured parties were being taken to Puerto Madryn’s Isola Hospital and other local medical centres to be treated.
