Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri praised the Government’s new housing plan but said he hoped it was «transparent.»
Coinciding with the statements made earlier by his Deputy Mayor, Macri said that the Government’s new mortgage plan for housing should be “celebrated,” but at the same time did not agree with the approach that was taken to announce it.
“We didn’t announce our plan, we put it through directly,” the leader of the centre-right PRO party said today during a press conference in the Environmental Formation Information Centre (CIFA) in Villa Lugano.
Macri also questioned the way the Government’s mortgage plan offered the construction of new homes, but only on certain areas of land, which up until now have been State property.
The City Mayor explained that the City’s plan in line with the Banco Ciudad gives credit to customers in order for them to buy homes “wherever they want.”
“We are looking for the possibility that those who receive mortgage loans are able to live where they want. The more people choose for themselves, the better,” Macri stressed.
