Pro-farming sector activists were protesting outside the Buenos Aires province Legislature, where lawmakers passed a land reform that includes a 38 percent tax hike. Protesters were chanting against Governor Daniel Scioli and pro-government lawmakers.
Before the bill was passed, police officers surrounded the building to keep shouting and flag-waving farmers from interrupting the debate.
Scioli assured that the hike was long overdue and that «only 38 percent of rural properties will be affected by it.»
