Repsol awaits ‘new Argentine gov’t’ to discuss YPF compensation

Repsol president, Antonio Brufau.
Repsol president, Antonio Brufau, disclosed today the company’s hopes for a “new Argentine government” in order to discuss the compensation given to the Spanish petrol giant, following the expropriation of YPF. The statements come after Fernández de Kirchner’s government’s “reluctance” to discuss the issue.
Brufau said he would do everything “legally possible” in order to get talks underway with the Argentine government.
At the same time though, due to the incumbent government’s reluctance toward discussing the issue, Brufau furthered that he was “confident that a new Argentine government would negotiate,” while adding that his “prediction is that within three to four years we will be able to find a solution to this issue.”
