Colombian citizens who live in Argentina sing slogans against former President of Colombia Alvaro Uribe, as he gives a conference at Gran Rex theatre in downtown Buenos Aires, on May 23, 2012.
Leftist organizations and Colombian residents in Argentina were demonstrating a few metres away from the Gran Rex theatre in protest of the presence of former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe, whom they accuse of committing “heinous crimes against the people of his country.”
The protesters were gathering at the intersection of Suipacha St. and Corrientes Av., right next to the Gran Rex theatre, currently under strict security controls due to the recent discovery of an explosive device that seemed to target the former head of state.
The demonstrators drafted a statement against Uribe, assuring that “he comes to Argentina to present a Colombian reality that is peaceful,” but in fact “this man committed heinous crimes against the Colombian people.”
