City Justice and Security Minister Guillermo Montenegro said the ruling that rejected an appeal filed by Mayor Mauricio Macri’s administration to avoid the withdrawal of police officers from Subway stations is correct because the solution is political.
However, he clarified that “the solution does not mean removing Federal Police officers from patrolling subway stations.”
«The judge’s ruling is correct regarding the fact that the responsibility of the decisions is political, Montenegro said, referring to Judge Rita Ailan’s rejection of an appeal and assured that the withdrawal of Police Officers from subway stations “may have penal consequences.”
The Federal Police has de duty of protecting the City residents, and if Security Minister Nilda Garré removes it she would be failing to comply with her public officer obligations.
