Aníbal Fernández: ‘Today’s debate will go down in history’

National senator Aníbal Fernández, affirmed that “today’s session will go down in history,» referring to the debate on the YPF expropriation bill which starts at 10am and is expected to be passed by a wide margin. The bill calls for the expropriation of a 51 percent of YPF’s shares, currently owned by Spanish oil company Repsol.

The national senator for the Victory Front bloc and head of the Budget and Treasury Commission in the Lower House, made the statements during a television interview this morning. Fernández was confident that the bill put forward by the Government would be approved in today’s session, with heavy support from the Radical Party (UCR) and the Progressive Front (Frente Amplio Progresista in Spanish).

Fernández will be the informant member for the Kirchnerite bloc, and will lead today’s debate over the expropriation of 51 percent of YPF’s shares.
