Sergio Agüero told reporters that Lionel Messi deserves to be ranked alongside Diego Armando Maradona as the greatest talent the game has ever seen.
As far as “Kun” is concerned, it makes no sense to compare players from different eras. However, the former Independiente striker said Messi is defining the modern game in much the same way that his father-in-law lit up the 1980s.
During a radio interview, Agüero stated that “Both were the best of their eras, so there is no comparison. Diego will always be the greatest of all time, but I would place him alongside Leo.”
Agüero and Messi will most likely spearhead the Argentine attack at the 2014 World Cup and the former Atlético Madrid forward believes that Alejandro Sabella’s side are capable of triumphing in Brazil.
“To win a World Cup is difficult, but we have many very good players who are playing well in Europe. We have the team but it depends on desire.”
