NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Dow industrials and S&P 500 index opened lower on Friday, with investors focused on profit-taking after a strong October and an in-line reading of gross domestic product.
But the Nasdaq opened higher after a strong earnings report from Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O).
The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) was down 26.80 points, or 0.24 percent, at 11,087.15. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (.SPX) dipped 2.40 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,181.38. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) was up 0.92 points, or 0.04 percent, at 2,508.29
