The Labour Ministry issued a mandatory conciliation for the 60 bus line strike and protesters were analyzing whether to abide by the ruling or to continue with the strike they began on Tuesday to claim for the reinstatement of fired workers.
Earlier todaym Federal Police cleared the 9 de Julio exit of the 25 de Mayo after closing it due the protest of 60 bus line drivers the nearby Constitución train station.
Shortly after 2.30 the protesters walked away and the Police reopened the exit. Earlier the drivers staged a roadblock at Monsa, the company who runs the line, in the Greater Buenos Aires area of Ingeniero Maschwitz.
They claim for the reinstatement of fired drivers and that their wages are paid correctly. Monsa head Marcelo Pasciuto assures the company is no money and complies with the Labour Ministry’transport regulations. “The company is always willing discuss all matters in a reasonable and respectful matters. But in the measures implemented by workers, like blocking the Panamericana highway and assaulting co-workers, are completely irrational.”
Paciuto added that the Labour Ministry urged the the drivers’representatives to lift the strike today and they did not do so. Only 150 employees, of a total of 1285, joined the strike. The rest are hard working, normal people who do not engage in these kind of activities.”
The 60 bus line connects northern Greater Buenos Aires are of Ingeniero Maschwitz with the City neighbourhood of Constitución and carries 250 thousand passengers daily.
