Buenos Aires, Argentina – Boca Juniors claimed a 2-2 draw with Lanus on Sunday despite playing the final 25 minutes with nine men.
Boca came into the match having won three of its last four games and looked on its way to another victory after goals from Pablo Mouche and Juan Riquelme put the team ahead 2-0.
But Lanus responded through Mariano Pavone in the 42nd minute before Boca went down to 10 men just before halftime after Julio Falcioni was hit with a red card.
Lanus equalized in the 54th courtesy of Paolo Goltz, and Clemente Rodriguez made things worse by being sent off for Boca with over 25 minutes still to play.
However, the game remained level and Boca stays within one point of the top spot in the Clausura.
Estudiantes is one point clear of Boca after a 2-1 win at Arg. Juniors that saw Raul Iberbia score the winning goal in the 56th minute.
Also on Sunday, Colon topped Independiente 3-0 with all three goals coming in the span of 18 minutes, while Guillermo Burdisso’s goal in the 65th minute was enough for Arsenal to down Tigre, 1-0.
Belgrano snatched a 1-1 draw against San Martin when Claudio Perez converted a penalty kick in stoppage time, Union toppled Racing, 3-0 and Atletico Rafaela conceded a goal after six minutes but rallied to beat San Lorenzo, 2-1, with Sebastian Carreras netting the winner five minutes from time.
Friday’s game ended 0-0 between Banfield and All Boys, while on Monday Godoy Cruz and Olimpo played to a 1-1 draw and Newell’s edged Velez Sarsfield, 1-0, thanks to a late winner from Hernan Pellerano.
