The Venezuelan government published several new photos showing president Hugo Chávez during his recovery stage in La Habana on Tuesday, after undergoing surgery to have a malignant tumor removed.
The Communication and Information Minister, Andrés Izarra, released a series of photographs taken on Monday at the Cuban hospital where Chávez was operated. In the images, Chávez can be seen enjoying the birthday celebrations of his daughter María Gabriela along with his daughters and grandchildren.
“He has been in a great mood while he awaits to return to his country this week,” the minister tweeted.
The head of state is planning to return to Caracas this week, after being treated with chemotherapy in Cuba.
Chávez was operated on the 26th of February after doctors found out that his cancer had returned.
